Gloversville seeks to hire an
This is journey level work involving the
performance of varied electrical work
including the making of installations, maintenance and repairs to municipal
facilities. Typical work activities include (but are not limited to):
install, maintain and repair generators,
motors, draft fans, heating and ventilating a variety of equipment; design and modify
wiring circuits; install, maintain, repair and replace lighting circuits and fixtures; may
install, maintain, repair and replace signal equipment including remote control
equipment, clocks, bells, fire alarm
systems and fire and police traffic control systems; may install and repair radio
equipment; install computer
intercommunication lines; may install, maintain and repair navigational
service and repair vehicles and
automotive equipment. This job requires the thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and accident precautions of the electrical trade and of the design,
maintenance and repair of electrical
instruments, devices and equipment; ability to work from blue prints and plans and to follow rough sketches and oral instructions; ability to read detailed wiring diagrams; dependability; initiative and resourcefulness.
Minimum qualifications are: (a) graduation from NYS registered or regionally accredited two year college with an associate's degree in electronics or
closely related field and two years of
experience as a
electrician; or (b) four years of experience as an electrician; or (c) any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
residency at the time of hire is required. Starting salary is $36,088. Benefit
package includes medical, dental, vision, NYS Retirement, and paid vacation, sick and personal leave.
